IBPS PO Prelims Mock Test 2026
The IBPS PO preliminary examination is the entry stage for Probationary Officer recruitment across the public sector banks that hire through the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. A single application places you in the running across all participating banks, with final allotment decided later by merit and preference.
The prelims paper carries 100 questions in 60 minutes with sectional timing of 20 minutes each. For 2026 the structure is English Language 30 questions for 30 marks, Quantitative Aptitude 35 questions for 30 marks and Reasoning Ability 35 questions for 40 marks. There is a penalty of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
The marks change matters. Reasoning Ability now carries 40 marks while Quantitative Aptitude carries 30, which means the two sections are no longer worth the same per question. A reasoning question is worth noticeably more than a quantitative one, and candidates still allocating equal effort to both are leaving marks on the table.
Like SBI PO, IBPS PO prelims is qualifying only. The score opens the door to Mains and then plays no further part in the merit list, so the goal is a clean, comfortable pass rather than a maximum.
