IBPS RRB PO Prelims Mock Test 2026

The IBPS RRB Officer Scale I preliminary examination selects officers for the Regional Rural Banks. It is often the most winnable of the major banking exams, because the applicant to vacancy ratio is generally kinder than SBI PO or IBPS PO while the preparation overlaps almost entirely.

The paper is structurally different from the other prelims. It carries 80 questions for 80 marks in 45 minutes and has only two sections: Reasoning Ability with 40 questions for 40 marks and Quantitative or Numerical Ability with 40 questions for 40 marks. There is no English Language section in prelims at all. Negative marking is 0.25 per wrong answer. Confirm on the current notification whether your cycle applies a composite 45 minute limit or separate sectional timings, because this has varied between years.

Removing English changes the calculation considerably. Candidates who struggle with the language section in other exams frequently find RRB PO their best route into banking. It also means the entire paper rests on reasoning and numerical ability, so weakness in either one cannot be hidden behind strength elsewhere.

The pace is also higher. Eighty questions in forty five minutes allows roughly thirty four seconds per question, noticeably tighter than the thirty six seconds of a 100 question, 60 minute paper, and with no easy English marks to bank quickly.
