The NISM Series XIX C Alternative Investment Fund Managers certification is intended for professionals managing or working within alternative investment funds registered with SEBI. Like other NISM examinations it is offered on a rolling basis at test centres across India, so your exam date is the slot you book rather than a fixed national date.
This certification addresses the manager side of alternative investment funds rather than distribution. The workbook covers the AIF regulatory framework and the three categories of fund, fund structuring and governance, investment strategies and portfolio construction, valuation, risk management, fund accounting and reporting, and the compliance obligations that fall on the manager.
Set 1 of this series is free and runs on the real exam pattern, with an explanation on every answer and a unit wise score report so you can see which chapters of the workbook still need another pass.

The regulatory content is the heaviest part and the most heavily examined. Learn what each AIF category may and may not do, including investment restrictions and tenure conditions, because category specific rules generate a large share of the questions.
The method that works across every NISM exam is the same. Read the official workbook once properly, then move to practice questions early and use them as your main study tool. NISM questions are drawn tightly from the workbook and repeat structural patterns, so familiarity with how questions are phrased is worth more than additional reading. Check whether your series applies negative marking before you decide how freely to guess.
