The NISM Series XVII Retirement Adviser certification is intended for anyone advising on retirement planning and pension products, including those distributing National Pension System products. Like other NISM examinations it is offered on a rolling basis at test centres across India, so your exam date is the slot you book rather than a fixed national date.
Retirement advice sits at the intersection of long horizon investing, tax treatment and product structure, and the workbook reflects that. It covers the retirement planning process, estimating the retirement corpus, the Indian pension landscape including the National Pension System and the Employees Provident Fund, annuity products and their variants, and the tax treatment that applies at each stage.
Set 1 of this series is free and runs on the real exam pattern, with an explanation on every answer and a unit wise score report so you can see which chapters of the workbook still need another pass.

Numerical questions on corpus estimation and withdrawal rates appear regularly and are entirely doable if you are comfortable with time value of money. Practise them until the calculator sequence is automatic, because they are the most reliable marks on the paper.
The method that works across every NISM exam is the same. Read the official workbook once properly, then move to practice questions early and use them as your main study tool. NISM questions are drawn tightly from the workbook and repeat structural patterns, so familiarity with how questions are phrased is worth more than additional reading. Check whether your series applies negative marking before you decide how freely to guess.
